How records are matched

  • Facilities: Medicare’s facility ID (CCN) ties ratings, inspections, staffing, owners, and costs to the same building.
  • Counties: standard federal county codes (FIPS) on every county-level source.
  • ZIP codes: the Census ZIP-to-county relationship file. A ZIP that crosses county lines counts toward the county with most of its land, and every ZIP page lists each county it touches with its share.
  • Districts: Census district relationship files link counties and ZIPs to their representatives.

Plain English, on purpose

Less time decoding, more time deciding.

No codebooks. “B19013_001E” shows up as “median household income.”
One page per place or facility. The facts you would pull from five agency websites, side by side.
Ready to share. Pages your board, client, or boss can read without a data team.

Built on top — always labeled as ours

The answers the agency files don't give you.

What a nursing home might be worth. An estimated value for every nursing home — like an online home-price estimate — from each home's own Medicare filings, beside its neighbors. When a home can't be valued, we say why. An estimate, never a price.
What a total hides. Every county and metro broken down to towns, ZIP codes, neighborhoods and school districts, so the one place running far from the average stands out. See it on a free sample county →
Who's really behind it. Medicare knows a building's owners, HUD knows its loans, and sales sit in a third file. We connect them: the companies behind a building, their other homes and loans, and how their homes did after they bought them.
What's about to move. Early signals in plain words — wholesale fuel pulling away from the pump, fuel stocks below normal before storm season, a trend that just turned around.
